Simple problem. I am in Brazil and I want to start an automation system, and I want to start with IR control.

The USB-UIRT it's too expensive for me import it. I know that the schematics is not open source, but I was wondering if it is possible to use a transmiter like these ones the we find on eBay.

Exemple:

I have already posted in many foruns and no one knows the answer, I hope someone can help me here.

Thx

IrDA devices will definitely not work I'm afraid.

You may want to take a look at http://winlirc.sourceforge.net/ and probably this thread too http://www.promixis.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20207&highlight=winlirc

Thanks Rob, now I have some directions.

Taking the opportunity... It's a noob question, but I just can't get it.

I suppose that when my remote send an IR signal, it can be read by any IR receiver device.

With this IrDA, it has an built in Receiver and Transmiter IR. Can't I simply receive it as a binary file, and than send it as a binary to my TV?

I do not have yet the knowlegde of how it works,...

Once again, thank you

IrDA devices generally only work with specific frequencies and generally can't be reprogrammed to work with the range of frequences used by consumer electronics.
