View Full Version : Is there still life here?

Hi everyone,

it's been a while, since I last visited. Is there still anything going on?
It seems like a graveyard, at least when the staff is concerned.

I have one short question, because I stumbled on a new device that uses RC6 toggle codes. NR-Designer suggests this is supported, but does it really work? Since there is no means to learn a toggle code with USBUIRT I have to manually enter the codes. Dos this work, or is it just another dead end I am running into here?

TIA for your answers

Wilhelm

Still alive. :)

I don't have specific RC6 knowledge (and that code set is a pretty deep subject), but I've successfully emulated toggle codes by using two separate codes as you're suggesting, so that is definitely worth a try.

Tim

Hi Tim,

thanks for your answer, but I think you misunderstood me.
I wasn't talking about using separate codes. I was just wondering, because there is a RC6 option in the Designer. If it is not supported, why is this option there?

Since toggle codes cannot be properly emulated I would think this was essential.
If I would set two codes into one action, there would be erratic behaviour, meaning there would be 1 or 2 actions coming out of that button, depending in what sequence you press them.

I fear, I finally have to get me another solution than Netremote. :-(

To make sure I understand: you're saying that you've manually entered the codes, but that you are unable to get a response? Or are you saying that you are getting an erratic response?

With regard to using two codes: using LUA, you can keep track of which code fired, and you can handle toggling with your own logic. This is obviously more work than dialling a code into Designer, but it should be feasible.

Tim

Hi Tim,

thanks for your answer. Concerning the problem of sending RC6 codes however, I really am kind of sick of the stereotype answer whenever one detects one of the shortcomings of NR "no it can't but you can use lua to program it on your own".

Sorry, not good enough

The codeset (RC6) that you are trying to use is very complex. As I stated, it may already be supported in Designer. If it is not, there may be an alternate solution using LUA. I do not have devices that use this codeset, so unless you're willing to answer my questions, I can't help.

I'm sorry to hear that you're frustrated, and I wish you the best of luck regardless!

Cheers,
Tim

If the codeset was supported, that was my initial question.
But I think, if it'S supported by the designer is only half of the way. If NR is able to form the proper toggle codes is the real question here.
That is what I found out so far of the RC6 parmeters:
Setup Device: 2047
Setup Type: VCR

Protocol: RC6-6-32
Protocol-ID: 01 2A

Device: 128
Subdevice: 21158

I don't know, if and how this fits into the input mask of the designer and if NR would be able to send it.

I also have two samples of a single code, in the two toggle states.
