I was wondering if I can connect netremote at work to girder that is running at home? It would make it easier to work on my skin at work and test it.

Yes, if you can port forward your Comserver from Girder to the internet then that should work. Please don't leave that port open forever, you never know how starts messing with your lights.

I use LogMeIn Hamachi (free) to set up a VPN tunnel directly to my Girder machine. Hamachi asigns you a unique URL address that doesn't change so I just plug that address into the NR connection host name. On the home end, the best part is that you don't need to set up any port forwarding on your DSL or cable modem. As long as Hamachi is running on both ends, it makes the connection! Moreover, it's more secure than opening the Girder com port to the outside world (even though it's password protected).
