View Full Version : Girder 6 closed alpha application list

August 13th, 2012, 08:06 AM
Guys, as you might have noticed in a separate thread (http://www.promixis.com/forums/showthread.php?21403-Is-Girder-Dead&p=146970#post146970). Work is progressing nicely on Girder 6. We will start a closed alpha test when time is right and will start taking applications for the alpha test.

Comment below if you'd like to be part of it. If you're new to the forum give a quick overview of your knowledge level in the HA field.

Edit: if you wish to signup but not in public send me a PM.

If it's just idiot testing, then I may just be that idiot...
What sort of skill level are you after? might be a little on the rusty side...

Keen to be a part of testing.

If you accept a french guy, you can count me.
I've not shared a lot on this forum, but I've several experiences with Girder/NetRemote.
I've integrated Girder with WebSockets (based on shaun5 code), which is working fine with Android Dolphin, Firefox, Chrome.
I've implemented automation of a VST Host (Console) via midi.lua
I'm mainly interested in lua evolutions, I'm currently trying to integrate Tellstick Duo API in Girder.

Hi Ron,

I'm not sure if you're still wanting more testers but I'd be keen to help test if I can.

I'm mainly using Girder to control my X10 lighting and HTPC along with mediabridge, netremote and JRMC V18 (beta)

September 18th, 2012, 08:56 AM
Richard, the first releases will not include mediabridge support. This is post 6.0 release. If you're still interested let me know.

Yes I'd still be interested. I'm sure I can test serial comms to my devices and X10 and hopefully a little later the inbuilt netremote functionality talked about in the other thread for.

I assume we can have both V6 and V5 installed on the same system for testing?

September 18th, 2012, 09:25 AM
Both v5 and v6 can be installed at the same time yes. It's early days so initial releases won't have X10 stuff built in yet... though that is planned for 6.0 final, so it will appear somewhere in the alpha/beta cycle.

Sign me up if there's room!
I am physically disabled and currently running 5 Pro.

Hi Ron, I use the HAI OMNI & USB UIRT plugin's and keen to test as I still have some issues with the HAI Plugin in Version 5.

October 7th, 2012, 06:30 PM
Hi Ron,

if there is still a way to join into the tester group, I would like to. As we talked about some topics like web-UI and further things, I would like to know what is comming up with G6 and I am happy if I can help.

mhund, I've added you to the list.

Ean and bushy. I've not added you to the list for now but will keep you on the beta application list. Girder 6 alpha will not have all the features ready that you might be relying on. If you feel mortally offended please PM me. :)

I would like to be added to the list. I have not posted much, but I do have a farily elaborate usage of Girder and NetRemote and would love to be a part of further progress.

No problem.

I am new to Girder. I have been testing home automation using the Xbox 360 Kinect, a USB-UIRT, a program called Amulet Kinect and Event Ghost. I have setup everything to work in conjunction with each other and be controlled using my voice. I can control Media Browser (a program used within Windows Media Center) and virtually any aspect of Media Center right down to playing a movie. I can walk into my home theater and simply say "Turn on theater", the Xbox Kinect detects my voice and sends a command via script to Event Ghost, which then sends multiple commands to the USB-UIRT which then sends IR signals to all my AV equipment. I am near the point of tossing my Harmony remote in a drawer, who needs a remote when you have full control of your equipment using just your voice.

A couple of Media Browser members and myself are setting up Amulet Remote and Amulet Kinect to control our Media Browser experience... I have since gone a step further automating my home theater. I feel that Event Ghost is a wonderful program, but have always been a true believer in the phrase "You get what you pay for.", need I say more? I would like to volunteer and become a member of your Girder 6 test team and actively engage in helping test Proximus' next Girder release.

Here is a video of my setup so far...

Thank you for your time, and hope to hear back from you soon.
