I am looking for a solution for my dad. He has Alzheimers and we are trying to automate devices in the home. I need something that is easy to use and setup. control by voice is the best option at this stage as i can set specific words to actions for the remote and that would not require training by the user, but a set of keywords that would operate a function. I am wondering if this software is easy enough to use that an novice can program the voice command features and does it requiring time in training the user like other types of voice recognition software?

Any information would be great, Thanks :)

Girder can do what you need. However automation is inherently not an easy thing to setup. It's not rocket science but still. I think we can get you going without too much pain using Girder 6. It has voice recognition built in and does lighting control and TV/Consumer electronics control. Contact sales@promixis.com (or call 877.877.0643 x 4) if you'd like to know more.
