View Full Version : Can this be fixed or do I need to buy a new mobo?

I dropped my Fujitsu 3400 today. Didn't even get pissed. Took it all apart and discovered that the thing had fell onto the floor and hit on the wireless PCMCIA card which jammed into the mobo and snapped off a SMT capacitor and tore off the card connector.

I've included a few pics.

Problem 1:
Is the 1R5 thing a 1.5pF capacitor? If not what is it and can I replace it with a regular cap? Is the direction important? What type of cap would work?

Problem 2:
The PCMCIA connector was torn off the mobo. Is this repairable or is it too far gone? For sure the operation would be delicate as those connectors are sure small.

If I don't do anything to the PCMCIA connector and just replace the cap do you think it will fire up assumming that is the only thing wrong?

Thanks guys. Don

I can't help, Don. But I did just want to say "Sorry" and that I hope you can get it repaired.
