I dont want a pen system, which I think the panel needs to be xp certified? I just want to be able to use my grubby fingers :)

So, is it the Viewsonic 1000 (or could the 1100 be the one?) or are we stuck with 400-500mhz second hand units?

I had a Viewsonic Viewpad 1000 and it had a passive stylus. I believe it is the fastest passive stylus display unit sold. I sold it because I found the unit to be heavy and also very noisy. The cooling fan came on alot. It was 800Mhz and pretty fast.

I now have two Fujitsu 3400's which also have a passive stylus and run at 400MHZ. I have to say that my latest Now Playing project (approaching 4meg CCF file) runs really well on these units. They have a nice video standby feature that works smoothly (I have had some older slower pen tablets that didn't). The 3400 can be had with drives and port replicator for about $300 on Ebay.

Thanks for that, there was a 1000 on ebay for 475 but it was sold before I got a reply from the seller about uk shipping.

There is a seller saying he has 3400's with brand new digitisers for about 350 - no docks etc, but they arent that much.

Well I bought both mine from market2market off Ebay and they were both in good condition. They provide good service.

I recently bought a Stylistic 3500 on eBay and it is a pretty powerful device. The 3400 is almost the same (smaller HD, less RAM)

J&K sales sells the fujitsu unit. Someone on this board pointed me to them, and I ordered one last week. I have not received the unit yet, but a couple of guys here said they were in great shape.

EDIT: I got a stylistic 3400, with dock, floppy, stand, and carrying case for $330

I believe the JKsales has less memory than the Market2Market. The ones I got had 192MB installed. Nice for running Win2K. Also it comes with a CDROM drive so you can load the Win2K on. They also come with a floppy drive even though its not listed.

There are others here that bought from them. None of us has problems.

Still not sure, I can see a viewsonic for 699 on buy it now.. looks a bit old fashioned.. im not sure whether i should go for a new tablet like the 1100 for 999 from viewsonic.. its a pen, but would that really detract from its function?
