Default IR on HP Pavilion notebook using Girder

I just got a HP Pavilion dv6103nr and there is a IR remote sensor on the front, which I would like to use with Girder to control BTV. I have looked thru device manager and I think that the IR shows up under HID. I have enabled the HID in settings, yet when I go through add remote and choose HID, I am not able to get girder to recognize the remote. Is there another plugin I should be using to get a standard universal remote to work in Girder?

To use a HID remote you'll need to do some programming. As we do not have this hardware available we can only be of limited help on this.

    John,

Enable the HID plugin, select your Remote from the list, select the edit on read button. You should see events in the logger from your remote.

On my HP laptop the remote works as a keyboard.

ie if i learn a command from the HP remote in girder - it registers as Keyboard - RAW (i think).

Under "device manager" u will see a 'HID Keyboard Device" under keyboards.

Having said all that - I can only get the 'origional hp' remote to register in girder.

Do we not have to disable the HP remote ir program?

    Later
    Simon.
