Thread: " Out of Memory " error in NetRemote

Default " Out of Memory " error in NetRemote

In using Netremote for a MediaCenter-only control device (using the Keith Beer .ccf), If you cycle screens by touching the album art (which jumps between pages, with album art on each page, just in a diff. place or size), after numerous cycles, you will get the above mentioned error and NetRemote must be closed and re-opened.

I get this error on an iPaq 3115, and on the Dell X50v. The Dell does it in exactly 15 presses / cycles or page jumping.

The iPaq takes more cycles, presumably because it has smaller graphics etc... being qvga and not vga like the Dell ??

Anyway, its a problem for both, just takes longer to happen on the iPaq.

in the mediabridge plugin, "image size" is set to large. Setting it to small makes no diff.

I don't know if its the album art being displayed thats causing this problem, or just complex pages being cycled, but eventually it crashes.

Anybody have any Idea how to fix this ?

You could try another CCF. Try OpusNR, which is a MC only CCF, available by following the link in my sig.

Thanks - I have a few others as well, but It seems that the problem is in NetRemote, and not the .ccf. As far as I can tell, the .ccf is not doing anything "wrong".

Unfortunately I'm currently having trouble replicating this issue. My devices can last for days (going back and forth from album covers), so I'm going to need help to figure out what's going on.

How much ram total is on this device? How much is free when NetRemote is running?

This issue is on both an out of the box iPaq 3115, and a Dell X50v.

The Dell is currently in use; Memory use is as follows:

    Total Main: 61.75 MB

    Storage:
    Allocated 22.36 MB
    In Use: 4.61
    Free: 17.75

    Program:
    Allocatd 39.39
    In Use: 14.42
    Free 24.97

    After starting NetRemote:

    Program:
    Allocated: 39.39
    In Use: 18.11
    Free 21.28

After 12 cycles of the album art / page button:

    Program:
    Allocated 39.39
    In Use: 28.64
    Free 10.76

On the 15th cycle / button push, the error / crash occurs.

On the iPaq, it took alot more cycles - didn't count.

    Hope this helps

I have seen the same issue on my SimPad SL4 using my CCF. It is very large (2.5 MB). I only see the problem happen with large CCFs

Wow my Nowplaying project comes in under 500K... hehehe... of coarse I spent time making sure there was no unused graphics in the library.

    Hi,

I did not know that tonto stored the icon library in the ccf?

How do you remove icons from the library?
    Thx, Dan

Just make sure they are not in use, like on any unused panels, or on an unused 'inactive tab'. Tonto will drop any icons that are not in use.
